It is located in the northwestern region of the country beside the international highway that connects to the Honduran border. This community has developed economically from the main Nicaraguan industry: liquor production extracted from the sugar cane, which is the main farming product of the region.
The community?s development is the result of private investment. Education and health care services were once provided by private industries. Recently, the state has begun offering these services.
