This community is located in the southwest central area of Nicaragua in the department of Carazo. This region is known for its ?white? population that resulted from the first Spanish settlement in Nicaragua. This region had a very important indigenous population who worked in the agricultural fields directed by the Spaniards.
In this community, one of the most known religious festivities of the country takes place every year for a whole week, in which all the community participates. It is a mix of indigenous and Catholic beliefs. These festivities offer synchronic activities that reunite many Nicaraguans in the area.
Due to the fact that this community is near Managua, the lodging industry is not important. However, local and international tourist activities take place in the region. Tourists travel to this area to buy traditional craftwork made out of wood, clay, and willow. This tourist attraction takes place only throughout the day.
