Community 2 - 200 households in Puerto Rico and 20 in the United States
Community 3 - 150 households in Puerto Rico and 15 in the United States
Community 3 is located about a one-hour drive south of San Juan. Currently focused on commerce and the service industry, the local economy used to be dominated by pharmaceutical companies and nearby haciendas. Community 3 is a quiet country town founded early in the 19th century that enjoys wonderful sunny spring-like weather all year round. Because of internal migration, the municipio where Community 3 is located has one of the highest population growth rates in Puerto Rico. The survey area was drawn near the main town square and included a lower income barriada (about a third of the interviewed households).
