This community is located 15 kms northeast of Pereira, Risaralda. It was founded in 19844, and it is located in the central mountains. Annual mean temperature is 19 degrees centigrades, and it has a extension of 456 square kilometers. Even though it is located in the coffee growing zone, it main economic activity is tourism due to its thermal waters and ecohotels. In 2009, economic activity is as follows: 23.4% industry, 49.9% commerce, and 25.3% services.
79% of its housing are particular homes, while 16% are apartments. 98% of all households receive electricity, 88% sewer, 90% running wager, and 28% natural gas.
While 90.7% of the population has some level of schooling, 10.6% has none. 4% of the population has some college education and only 0.7% has some advanced degree.
