Community 1 - 35 households in Puerto Rico and 10 in the United States

Community 1 was founded early in the 18th century. In colonial times the town concentrated a large number of African slaves who initially worked in gold mining, and later in sugar cane-cutting. Today the local economy encompasses fishing activities as well as craftsmanship and agriculture.

Community 2 - 200 households in Puerto Rico and 20 in the United States

Community 3 - 150 households in Puerto Rico and 15 in the United States
