How to cite LAMP and its data

You may introduce LAMP using a quote such as the following: "The Latin American Migration Project (LAMP) is a collaborative research project based at Princeton University and the University of Guadalajara, supported by the National Institute of CHild Health and Human Development (NICHD)."

Please cite the LAMP webiste: http://lamp.opr.princeton.edu/

Other references to the LAMP or its survey methodology can be taken from our website at your discretion. For example, this site offers a description of the communities surveyed in each country, and presents the questionnaire used in each survey. When citing our website, refer only to the address specifed aboce and not to specific menus within it, as the website design may change over time. THere is no need to use quotes when copying text from the LAMP website..

More on LAMP-CR7 Databases

For the surveys in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, the LAMP established an association with the Central American Population Center (CCP) of the University of Costa Rica. The Mellon Foundation provided funding through CCP's "Migration Ethnosurvey Nicaragua-Costa Rica-United States" Project. The LAMP provided technical support and funding for the complementary interviews in the United States.

In addition to acknowledging the LAMP, we request that users who work with the LAMP-CR7 database and/or LAMPNIC9 give credit to the CCP (including a reference to its website: http://ccp.ucr.ac.cr) and mention the support of the Mellon Foundation.

The following is an example of proper acknowledgement involving only the Costa Rican datasets:

"The LAMP-CR7 database compiles data gathered by the Central American Population Center of the University of Costa Rica (CCP: http://ccp.ucr.ac.cr), in association with the Latin American Migration Project (LAMP: lamp.opr.princeton.edu). The Mellon Foundation and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) provided financial support."

The following is an example of proper acknowledgement involving surveys in multiple countries:

"This study uses data collected by the Latin American Migration Project (LAMP: lamp.opr.princeton.edu) in the Dominican Republic, NIcaragua nad Costa Rica. The surveys in Nicaragua and Costa Rica were ocnducted in association with the Central American Population Center of the University of Costa Rica (CCP: http://ccp.ucr.ac.cr), with support from the Mellon Foundation. The LAMP is funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
